How much salt is my household likely to use each month?
On average, a standard household of four occupants will use approximately one 25kg bag of tablets (or one twin-pack block box) per month. Is it safe for me to mix different types of salt together in my machine?
No. You should always use the exact salt format recommended by your machine's manufacturer. Mixing tablet spheres with loose granular salt crystals can cause the bottom base of the brine tank to "mush" or solidify into a thick sludge, leading to restricted brine water suction flow and expensive engineer emergency service calls.
What is the correct way to load my block salt, and does a minor crack matter?
Softener blocks are designed to be completely reversible. You can slide them into your internal machine rails with either face facing forward, provided the block sits completely flat inside the bottom fluid channel. If a block develops a minor surface chip or hairline crack during delivery transit, do not worry—it will dissolve completely evenly inside the brine loop and performance is never altered.
What can I do to keep my spare bags from turning rock hard during storage?
If you are storing your spare block or bag stock in an outdoor garage, cold outhouse, or damp garden shed, make sure to keep the wraps completely lifted off the cold concrete floor (using a simple wooden pallet or strong shelf rack). This entirely prevents heavy ground moisture from wicking into the bottom wraps and hardening the salt crystals into a solid block before use.
Can I order just a single pack of salt on my town's delivery route?
To keep our manual stacking rounds completely free, all deliveries must clear our local minimum delivery rule. While a single salt pack won't clear outer minimum limits on its own, water salt is the absolute best year-round choice to combine with your main kiln-dried log bundles or smokeless coal bags. Note: Properties sitting within our home village area of Old Buckenham enjoy a low 2-bag minimum delivery rule to keep our delivery routes close to our yard gates!
